Later vs Planable (2026): Which Social Media Tool Is Right for You?

Later wins on visual Instagram scheduling at a lower price. Planable wins on approval workflows, X/Twitter, and team collaboration. We scored both across 7 weighted categories.

by Subhana Bintay Azam | 11 August 2026

Planable wins this head-to-head at 3.6/5 against Later’s 2.9/5. It scores higher on six of seven weighted categories. Choose Planable for client approval workflows, unlimited users, and nine networks. Choose Later for Instagram visual planning at roughly half the entry price.

Three differences decide most of these evaluations. Later does not publish to X/Twitter at all, and Planable does. Planable charges $14 per workspace per month for analytics that Later bundles. Later’s approval status does not block a scheduled post from going live.

We scored both tools on the same 7-category weighted rubric. The weights are scheduling 25%, platform coverage 20%, content creation 15%, analytics 15%, ease of use 10%, pricing 10%, and support 5%. Below: an overview of each tool, a dimension-by-dimension comparison, current pricing, user sentiment, and audience-specific verdicts.

What Is Later?

Later Social is a social media scheduling and management platform built around visual Instagram planning. It scores 2.9/5 on our seven-category methodology. It began as an Instagram-centric tool and now publishes to eight networks, though its identity remains visual-first.

Later the company operates four product lines. They are Later Social (the product compared here), Later Influence (enterprise influencer marketing), Later Services (managed services), and Mavely (an affiliate creator network). Only Later Social has public self-serve pricing.

Later Social sits at Domain Rating 86 with roughly 1.46 million monthly organic visits (Ahrefs, June 2026). It holds a G2 rating of 4.5/5 and a G2 Leader Spring 2026 badge. Capterra rates it 4.4/5 across 399 reviews.

The outlier is Trustpilot, where Later scores 1.5/5 from 346 reviews as of August 2026. That gap between a strong software-review score and a poor consumer-review score is worth weighing. It matters most if billing and refunds are a concern.

What Is Planable?

Planable is a collaboration-first social media management platform built around client approval. It scores 3.6/5 on the same methodology. It was founded in Romania in 2016, became profitable in 2020, won a Webby Award in 2022, and was acquired by SE Ranking in 2025.

Planable now serves more than 7,500 teams and 30,000 marketers across 120 countries. The SE Ranking acquisition matters mainly as a stability signal. The product has an institutional owner rather than a runway clock.

Its defining feature is approval infrastructure. Planable ships four approval modes, guest-view links that let clients approve without an account, and post locking after approval. Universal Content extends the same workflow to newsletters, ads, and blog drafts.

Third-party sentiment is strong. G2 rates Planable 4.6/5 across 1,055 reviews, with 74% five-star, and Capterra rates it 4.5/5 across 326 reviews. Unlimited users are included on every paid plan, plus Canva, Slack, and Zapier integrations.

Both scores come from the same 7-category weighted rubric. We apply it to live product documentation, current pricing pages, and verified reviews on G2, Capterra, Trustpilot, and community forums. The full method is published at how we review social media management tools. Prices verified 2026-08-08.

Scheduling and Publishing

Planable wins scheduling at 3.5/5 against Later’s 3.0/5, on format breadth and cross-platform sync. Later wins for Instagram grid planning specifically, where its drag-drop visual calendar has no equal at this price.

Later on Scheduling

Later’s visual drag-drop calendar is the strongest in its price range. Quick Schedule batch-fills a week of posts across multiple profiles. Drag assets in, set recurring slots, done. The Instagram grid preview shows exactly how images will sit in the feed before publishing.

Capterra’s aggregated sentiment backs this up. The visual planner rates 97% positive across 31 mentions. Drag-and-drop scheduling rates 100% positive across 25 mentions, and time-saving rates 100% positive across 38 mentions (Capterra, mid-2026).

The defining limitation is auto-publishing. Later does not auto-publish Instagram Stories, Reels, or certain carousel types. For those formats it sends a push notification, and the user finishes the post by hand in the mobile app.

Capterra reviewers state it plainly:

  • “Later’s automated publishing doesn’t support Instagram carousel posts or Stories.”
  • “The post types you can schedule are ULTRA limited (no reels).”
  • “Someone from our team is always on weekend publishing duty to manually post.”

Two further gaps matter. Later offers no evergreen recycling, so recurring content is rescheduled by hand. Best Time to Post covers Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, but not LinkedIn.

Planable on Scheduling

Planable’s scheduling centers on three views. They are Feed (a pixel-faithful preview), Calendar (drag-drop), and Grid (the Instagram planner, on Pro and Enterprise only). Enterprise adds a fourth List view.

The Feed view renders each post as the network will render it, including character wrapping and image cropping. That removes most of the reason to log into each platform to check. Sync Content creates once and distributes across networks with per-platform toggles.

The friction is real. “I find the scheduling options very confusing,” wrote Praespero G. on G2 (2026). Scheduling Issues is the fourth most-cited con in G2’s aggregated data, at 21 mentions across 1,055 reviews.

Post caps bite harder. Planable allows 60 posts per workspace per month on Basic, 150 on Pro, and unlimited only on Enterprise. Basic also limits X/Twitter to one post per 24 hours. That rules it out for anyone posting to X daily.

Instagram Stories auto-publish requires a Business account. Creator and personal accounts get a push notification instead, which mirrors Later’s limitation exactly.

Verdict: Scheduling

Planable wins on format coverage, cross-platform sync, and preview fidelity. Later wins if the Instagram grid and weekly batch drag-drop are the center of your workflow. Later also wins if your volume would exceed Planable’s monthly post caps on Basic and Pro.

Content Collaboration and Approval Workflows

Planable wins collaboration decisively at 4.0/5 against Later’s 3.5/5. Planable was built around client sign-off. Later added approvals as a tier-gated feature, and its approval status does not actually gate publishing.

Later on Collaboration

Later’s collaboration tools start on the Growth plan. The set covers an internal content approval workflow and an External Comment Workflow for reviewers without a Later account. It also includes custom roles, Access Groups, calendar notes, post comments, and an activity log. For a small in-house team reviewing its own work, that is enough.

The structural gap is multi-level approval. Later does not offer it. A post is pending or approved, with no enforced progression through stakeholder layers.

The sharper problem is enforcement. Third-party testing by Gain (July 2026) found that approval status does not block publishing on Later. A scheduled post still goes live at its scheduled time even if nobody approved it. Treat that as a medium-confidence finding, and test it before you rely on Later approvals for client work.

Later’s agency page carries the headline claim of being the number one social media management tool for agencies. That page names no white-label reporting, no agency pricing tier, and no multi-level approval. The claim and the documented feature set diverge.

Later’s social inbox (Growth and above) covers Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok conversations only. LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, Threads, and Snapchat are excluded.

Planable on Collaboration

Planable’s approval infrastructure is the strongest at this price level. It ships four modes:

  • None: posts publish without review.
  • Optional: reviewers can comment but are not required to act.
  • Required: at least one approver must sign off before a post can be scheduled.
  • Multi-level sequential: several approval layers progress automatically through the chain. Enterprise only.

Basic carries the first two modes, Pro adds Required, and Enterprise adds Multi-level. Enforced sign-off therefore starts at $49 per workspace per month.

Guest-view links are the feature agencies cite most. A client opens a shareable link, reviews the queue, approves, and comments. No Planable account is needed. Post locking then prevents edits after approval without a fresh approval cycle.

Internal notes and internal posts stay team-only and are hidden from clients. There is no version of the “client saw the unfinished draft” problem here.

Two G2 reviewers capture the effect:

  • “I love that you are able to truly collaborate with the team,” wrote Rachel L., Founder and CEO (G2, 2026).
  • “It has made things much calmer,” wrote Jemaimah M., Digital Marketing Manager (G2, 2025).

Planable’s MCP connector is included on all paid plans. It lets an AI agent create drafts, read post data, and approve or reject posts. It cannot auto-publish, so a human still schedules after the agent finishes.

Universal Content extends the same approval chain to newsletters, blog drafts, ads, and press releases. There is no CMS push, so approved content is copied out manually.

Verdict: Collaboration

Planable wins by a clear margin. The guest-view link, four-mode workflow, post locking, and Universal Content have no equivalent in Later at any tier. Later wins only on price, and only for teams whose approval step is one colleague glancing at a calendar.

Platform Coverage

Planable wins platform coverage at 4.0/5 against Later’s 3.0/5. Planable publishes to nine networks including X/Twitter and Google Business Profile. Later publishes to eight and supports neither, which rules it out for many multi-channel brands.

Platform Later Planable
Instagram Yes (Stories and Reels by notification) Yes (Stories by notification on non-Business accounts)
Facebook Yes Yes
TikTok Yes (notification option available) Yes
LinkedIn Yes Yes
Pinterest Yes Yes
YouTube Yes Yes
Threads Yes Yes
Snapchat Yes No
X/Twitter No Yes
Google Business Profile No Yes
Bluesky No No

Three nuances turn the count into a decision:

  • Later does not publish to X/Twitter on any plan. If X is in your mix, Later is disqualified before price enters the conversation.
  • Later does not support Google Business Profile. For multi-location and local brands, that is a hard gap.
  • Planable does not support Snapchat, and neither tool supports Bluesky.

Later publishes to eight networks but reports analytics on only five of them. Planable publishes to nine and covers six in its analytics add-on. Both headline counts overstate what each tool actually measures.

Verdict: Platform Coverage

Planable wins on breadth, and on the two networks that most often decide the evaluation. Those are X/Twitter and Google Business Profile. Later wins only when Snapchat is a required channel.

Analytics and Reporting

Later and Planable tie at 2.5/5, for opposite reasons. Later includes analytics but covers only five networks. Planable covers more networks but sells analytics as a $14 per workspace per month add-on on every plan.

Later Analytics

Later reports analytics for five networks: Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Facebook, and Threads. LinkedIn, YouTube, and Snapchat analytics are unavailable on every plan, including Scale.

Later’s own documentation confirms it. The Later help center states that Later does not currently offer built-in analytics for LinkedIn, YouTube Shorts, or Snapchat. Capterra reviewers confirm it from the user side. One wrote, “It’s missing LinkedIn analytics.” Another wrote, “almost none analytics in the lower tiers.”

History is tier-gated. Starter retains three months, Growth one year, and Scale two years. Scale, at $82.50 per month annually, is also the only tier with custom cross-platform analytics, competitive benchmarking against 20 competitors, and social listening.

Social listening on Scale covers Instagram and TikTok data only. LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube are out of scope even at the top tier.

One Capterra reviewer called it “to expensive to just upgrade for that aspect [analytics]” (original spelling preserved). No white-label client report export appears on Later’s agency page or pricing matrix.

Planable Analytics

Planable includes no analytics in any base plan. Analytics is a separate add-on at $14 per workspace per month on monthly billing, or $12 on annual. The Social Inbox is a second add-on at $9 per workspace per month.

The add-on covers post metrics, audience insights, channel metrics, cross-account analytics, custom reports, PDF sharing, and campaign analytics. It excludes X/Twitter, Pinterest, and Threads, all three of which Planable publishes to. Hashtag tracking and competitive analytics are absent entirely, per Planable’s own CMO.

“The analytics can definitely be a bit more robust and provide more value than it currently has,” wrote Rachel L. on G2 (2026). High Pricing is G2’s top-cited con for Planable at 53 mentions, and the analytics paywall feeds it.

The agency math is the real cost. Basic at $33 plus analytics at $14 is $47 per workspace per month. Across ten clients that is $470 per month, of which $140 is analytics alone.

Verdict: Analytics

Neither tool is a good analytics purchase. Later wins if your networks are Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Facebook, or Threads and you want reporting included. Planable wins if you need LinkedIn, YouTube, or Google Business Profile reporting and will pay the add-on per client workspace.

Pricing Comparison

Later is cheaper than Planable at every comparable scale, and the gap widens with client count. Planable is better value per seat. Unlimited users are included on every paid plan, while Later caps seats at one to four.

Later Pricing

Later bills per social set, where one social set is one account on each supported platform. All prices below come from Later’s pricing page, verified 2026-08-08.

Plan Annual price Monthly price Social sets Users Posts/profile/mo AI credits
Starter $18.75/mo $25/mo 1 (8 profiles) 1 30 5
Growth $37.50/mo $50/mo 2 (16 profiles) 2 180 50
Scale $82.50/mo $110/mo 6 (48 profiles) 4 Unlimited 100

Annual billing saves 25% and adds three months free. Three add-ons are available on Growth and Scale:

  • Extra social set: $11.25 per month each
  • Extra user: $3.75 per month each
  • Extra AI credits: $3.75 per month per 100 credits

Approvals and the social inbox start at Growth. Custom analytics, social listening, and competitive benchmarking require Scale. The 14-day trial unlocks every paid feature with no card, and qualifying nonprofits get 50% off annual Growth.

Later publishes no money-back guarantee. Capterra carries a pattern of billing complaints:

  • “It can get expensive really quickly if you’re a social media manager with a lot of clients.”
  • “Worst company ever, be carefull with their ‘refund policy’ they will scam you!” (original spelling preserved)

Planable Pricing

Planable bills per workspace, where one workspace is one client or brand. All prices below come from Planable’s pricing page, verified 2026-08-08.

Plan Price Posts/mo Social pages Users Views Approval modes
Basic $33/workspace/mo 60 4 Unlimited Feed, Calendar 2 (None, Optional)
Pro $49/workspace/mo 150 10 Unlimited Feed, Calendar, Grid 3 (adds Required)
Enterprise Custom Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited Adds List 4 (adds Multi-level)

Basic includes 10 GB of storage, three campaigns, and one week of version history. Pro raises that to 50 GB, ten campaigns, and 30 days of version history. Analytics at $14 and Social Inbox at $9 per workspace per month are separate on every tier.

Annual billing gives two months free, with no percentage stated on the public page. The free plan allows 50 posts total, a lifetime cap rather than a monthly reset, and excludes X/Twitter publishing.

The first enforced sign-off level is Required approval, and it needs Pro at $49 per workspace per month. Basic offers Optional only. Multi-level sequential approval needs an Enterprise contract.

Which Is Cheaper?

Later is cheaper at every scale point below, but the comparison is not like for like. Later’s lower price buys fewer seats and a weaker approval workflow.

Scenario Later Planable
1 brand, basic scheduling $18.75/mo (Starter, annual) $33/mo (Basic)
1 brand with analytics $37.50/mo (Growth, annual) $47/mo (Basic plus analytics)
1 brand, enforced approvals $37.50/mo (Growth, single-level only) $49/mo (Pro, Required mode)
Agency: 3 clients with approvals ~$37.50/mo (Growth, 2 social sets) $99 to $147/mo
Agency: 10 clients with analytics ~$120 to $170/mo (caps plus add-ons) $330 to $630/mo

Later scores 2.0/5 on pricing. The deductions are per-social-set bundling that escalates with clients, seat caps of one to four, and a documented refund-complaint pattern. Planable scores 2.5/5, with an analytics second paywall and per-workspace billing that scales against agencies, offset by genuinely unlimited users.

What Users Actually Say About Later and Planable

Community and aggregator sentiment splits along the same line as the scorecard. Later draws pricing and publishing complaints. Planable draws pricing complaints and workflow praise. Reddit is the top organic result for this comparison, so the community read matters here.

Aggregators put the two closer than the headline scores suggest. SelectHub, in June 2026, recorded a user sentiment rating of 90 for Planable across 607 reviews and 88 for Later across 763 reviews. That near-parity sits oddly against Later’s 1.5/5 Trustpilot score. The difference is instructive: software buyers rate the product, and consumers rate the billing.

On Reddit, the recurring Planable complaint is per-workspace cost. The thread “Do you know any cheaper Planable alternative?” opens with a specific figure. The poster describes paying “$59 per month, per workspace/client” as unnecessary. Current Pro plus analytics reaches $63 per workspace, so the complaint has aged accurately.

The recurring Later theme is that pricing outruns capability. Marketers in agency threads consistently place Later and Buffer as creator-focused schedulers rather than agency tools. Treat these community signals as directional. Reddit content is snippet-level here and cannot be quoted verbatim beyond the confirmed thread above.

Later vs Planable Scorecard

Planable outscores Later on six of seven categories and ties on the seventh. The weighted overall is 3.6/5 against 2.9/5. That margin is large enough that the choice turns on specific needs rather than general quality.

Dimension Weight Later Planable Winner
Scheduling 25% 3.0/5 3.5/5 Planable
Channels 20% 3.0/5 4.0/5 Planable
Content Creation 15% 3.5/5 4.0/5 Planable
Analytics 15% 2.5/5 2.5/5 Tie
Ease of Use 10% 3.5/5 4.5/5 Planable
Pricing 10% 2.0/5 2.5/5 Planable
Support 5% 1.5/5 4.0/5 Planable
Overall 100% 2.9/5 3.6/5 Planable

Later’s 1.5/5 support score reflects three signals. Those are a 1.5/5 Trustpilot score across 346 reviews, 59% negative support sentiment on Capterra across 37 mentions, and 12-hour response times on Scale only. Planable’s 4.0/5 reflects 4.6/5 on G2 across 1,055 reviews and 4.6/5 for customer service on Capterra.

Layer-2: Which Wins for Agencies?

Agencies do not buy on the global overall, so we re-weight the same category scores for that segment. We then add the two sub-factors the base rubric does not isolate. The agency profile weights scheduling 12%, channels 10%, content creation 6%, analytics 16%, ease of use 12%, pricing 8%, and support 6%.

Agency sub-factor Weight Later Planable
Client workspaces and multi-brand roles 16% 2.0/5 4.0/5
Approval workflows and white-label reports 14% 1.5/5 3.5/5

Later scores 2.0 on client workspaces because the social-set model bundles profiles rather than isolating clients, and Access Groups give shallow role depth. It scores 1.5 on approvals because the workflow is Growth-gated, single-level, non-blocking, and paired with no white-label reporting.

Planable scores 4.0 on client workspaces for genuine per-client isolation with unlimited users and granular permissions. It scores 3.5 on approvals for four modes, guest-view links, and post locking, held back by no white-label reporting on any plan.

Applying those weights gives an agency composite of 2.5/5 for Later and 3.6/5 for Planable. Both figures sit alongside the global overalls rather than replacing them. Planable’s approval infrastructure repays its higher per-workspace price up to roughly six clients. Past ten clients, per-workspace cost dominates and neither tool serves large agencies well.

Later: Pros and Cons

Later’s strengths cluster in Instagram-first visual work. Its weaknesses cluster in publishing coverage, analytics breadth, and billing. Every item below traces to a review platform or to Later’s own documentation.

Pros of Later Cons of Later
Drag-drop visual calendar and Instagram grid preview rate 97% to 100% positive on Capterra across 31 and 25 mentions No X/Twitter or Google Business Profile publishing on any plan
Quick Schedule fills a week of multi-profile posts in one pass, cited as a time-saver in 38 Capterra mentions Instagram Stories, Reels, and some carousels are notification-only, so a human finishes the post by hand
Entry price of $18.75 per month annually is roughly half Planable’s, with a 14-day full-feature trial and no card No LinkedIn, YouTube, or Snapchat analytics on any plan, per Later’s own help center
Analytics is included rather than sold separately, and Link in Bio is on every plan including Free Trustpilot 1.5/5 across 346 reviews, with 59% negative support sentiment on Capterra

Planable: Pros and Cons

Planable’s strengths cluster in approval and collaboration UX. Its weaknesses cluster in cost stacking and post caps. Sources are G2, Capterra, and Planable’s own disclosures.

Pros of Planable Cons of Planable
Four approval modes plus guest-view links let clients approve without an account, the feature agencies cite most Analytics costs $14 per workspace per month extra, and excludes X/Twitter, Pinterest, and Threads
Unlimited users on every paid plan, so team growth does not change the bill Post caps of 60 per month on Basic and 150 on Pro, with one X post per 24 hours on Basic
Nine networks including X/Twitter and Google Business Profile, with pixel-faithful Feed previews per network Enforced approvals need Pro, and multi-level sequential approvals need an Enterprise contract
4.6/5 on G2 across 1,055 reviews with 74% five-star, plus 4.5/5 on Capterra across 326 reviews High Pricing is the top-cited G2 con at 53 mentions, driven by per-workspace billing at agency scale

Who Should Use Later?

Later fits a narrow case: Instagram-led content where the grid is the plan, on a budget, with one or two people involved. Outside that case its limits outweigh the lower price.

Later is a good fit for these buyers.

  • Solo creators and small brands running an Instagram-first strategy who want the visual grid and batch scheduling
  • Brands where feed aesthetics drive planning and the grid preview is central to the workflow
  • Teams publishing heavy Instagram and TikTok volume where visual sequencing drives decisions
  • Influencer marketers who also want access to Later Influence, a separate product on separate pricing
  • Budget-led buyers who want a $18.75 per month entry point and a full-feature 14-day trial

Later is the wrong fit for these buyers.

  • Anyone who publishes to X/Twitter or Google Business Profile, neither of which Later supports
  • Agencies past three or four clients, where per-social-set pricing escalates and approvals stay single-level
  • Brands where LinkedIn or YouTube is a primary channel, since neither has analytics on any plan
  • Teams that need true auto-publish for Instagram Stories, Reels, and every carousel type
  • Anyone who needs a public API, a Zapier, Make, or n8n connection, or an AI-agent workflow

Where Later almost works but approval depth falls short, see Later alternatives.

Who Should Use Planable?

Planable fits professional teams whose bottleneck is sign-off rather than scheduling. Its per-workspace model makes the math excellent at two to six clients and punishing past ten.

Planable is a good fit for these buyers.

  • Agencies running two to six clients who need structured approval: guest-view links, locked content, and internal notes
  • Marketing teams at multi-location brands needing HQ visibility, local approvals, and Google Business Profile scheduling
  • Content teams using Universal Content to route newsletters, blog drafts, and ad copy through one approval chain
  • Teams where unlimited users per workspace is a structural requirement rather than a nice-to-have
  • Brands that publish to X/Twitter and want it in the same calendar as everything else

Planable is the wrong fit for these buyers.

  • Agencies running ten or more client workspaces, where the bill reaches $330 to $630 per month
  • Brands where Snapchat is a primary channel, since Planable does not support it
  • High-volume publishers who would exceed 60 posts on Basic or 150 on Pro
  • Teams that need true white-label client reporting, since only PDF sharing exists
  • Anyone who needs a public developer API, since the MCP connector drafts only and cannot publish

Where Planable’s per-workspace model gets too expensive, see Planable alternatives.

Verdict: Later vs Planable

Planable wins the head-to-head at 3.6/5 against Later’s 2.9/5, and wins the agency segment at 3.6/5 against 2.5/5. It scores higher on six of seven categories. The only tie is analytics, where both tools have gaps that keep either from scoring well.

The audience-specific verdicts are as follows.

  • Instagram-first solo creators: Later
  • Anyone publishing to X/Twitter or Google Business Profile: Planable, by disqualification
  • In-house social media managers at multi-platform brands: Planable
  • Small agencies running two to six clients: Planable
  • Large agencies running ten or more clients: neither is a strong fit at that scale
  • Budget-constrained teams needing scheduling only: Later
  • Teams needing client approval workflows: Planable

If AI-assisted workflows are the deciding factor, neither tool qualifies. Neither supports bring-your-own-key AI. Later has no MCP server, and Planable’s drafts only. That comparison is covered in best AI social media tools.

Is There a Better Alternative?

Later and Planable share three gaps. Neither offers bring-your-own-key AI, so you pay for AI twice if you already hold a provider subscription. Later has no MCP server, and Planable’s cannot schedule or publish. Both are subscription-only, forever.

PostMonk was built for the operator that gap describes. BYOK is available on every paid plan across OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, OpenRouter, and DeepSeek, with no credit cap. The native MCP server on Pro and Agency carries a full read and write surface. An agent can schedule, approve, and pull analytics rather than only draft. Pricing is one-time: Starter $29, Pro $59, Agency $99.

PostMonk scores 3.7/5 on the same seven-category methodology used here, carried mainly by pricing and content creation. It also carries the lowest support and reputation score in the category, because no independent review base exists yet. It has no visual grid planner and none of Planable’s approval depth. If either of those is your requirement, buy Later or Planable.

If you already pay for AI and do not want another monthly bill, start a free PostMonk workspace. For the wider one-time-pricing field, the best lifetime social media deals roundup covers the full set.

FAQs

Which is better, Later or Planable?

Planable is better overall, scoring 3.6/5 against Later’s 2.9/5 on a 7-category weighted rubric. Planable is stronger for agencies, approval-heavy teams, and anyone publishing to X/Twitter. Later is better for Instagram-first creators who want the visual grid planner at a lower entry price.

How much does Planable cost?

Planable Basic costs $33 per workspace per month and Pro costs $49. Analytics adds $14 per workspace per month and Social Inbox adds $9. Enterprise pricing is custom. Unlimited users are included on every paid plan, and annual billing gives two months free.

Later Starter costs $18.75 per month billed annually, or $25 monthly. Growth is $37.50 annually and Scale is $82.50 annually. Annual billing saves 25% and adds three months free. A 14-day trial unlocks every paid feature with no credit card.

Does Later auto-publish Instagram Stories and Reels?

No. Later sends a push notification for Instagram Stories, Reels, and some carousel types. The user then completes the post by hand in the Later mobile app. Standard image posts auto-publish across all eight supported networks. This is the most frequently cited complaint in Later reviews.

Does Later post to X/Twitter?

No. Later does not publish to X/Twitter on any plan. Its eight supported networks are Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, Threads, and Snapchat. Planable does publish to X/Twitter, though Basic limits it to one post every 24 hours.

Is Later a legit company?

Yes. Later is an established social media company with four product lines, a G2 rating of 4.5/5, and a Capterra rating of 4.4/5 across 399 reviews. Its Trustpilot score is 1.5/5 across 346 reviews, driven mainly by billing and refund disputes rather than product failure.

Is Planable legit?

Yes. Planable has traded since 2016, became profitable in 2020, won a Webby Award in 2022, and was acquired by SE Ranking in 2025. It serves more than 7,500 teams across 120 countries and holds 4.6/5 on G2 across 1,055 reviews.

Is Planable worth it for agencies?

Planable is worth it for agencies running two to six clients who need structured client approval. It scores 3.6/5 on our agency-weighted composite against Later’s 2.5/5. Past ten clients, per-workspace pricing of $33 to $49 each becomes the dominant constraint.

Does Planable include analytics?

No. Analytics is a $14 per workspace per month add-on, or $12 on annual billing, and is excluded from Basic and Pro. It covers post metrics, audience insights, cross-account analytics, custom reports, and PDF sharing. It excludes X/Twitter, Pinterest, Threads, hashtag tracking, and competitive analytics.

What are the best alternatives to Later and Planable?

For visual-first creators, Buffer or Metricool. For agencies needing deeper approval workflows, Sprout Social or Agorapulse. For teams wanting lifetime pricing and bring-your-own-key AI, PostMonk. The best social media management tools roundup scores the wider field.
