Metricool Review 2026: Features, Pricing, and Honest Verdict

Metricool review 2026: 3.5/5. Best-in-class analytics at $20 to $53 per month, held back by a repriced X/Twitter add-on, auto-renewal billing, and no media library.

by Subhana Bintay Azam | 5 August 2026

Metricool scores 3.5 out of 5 in our 2026 review. The analytics and client reporting are the strongest you can buy between $20 and $53 per month. The billing model is the problem.

Choose Metricool if reports and dashboards are your main output and you manage 1 to 50 brands. Skip it if X/Twitter is central to your clients, if you need a shared media library, or if reliable TikTok auto-publishing is a hard requirement.

The free plan is real, does not expire, and needs no credit card. Below: the scorecard, every feature evaluated against its limits, current pricing with the add-ons that change the math, and the verdict by condition.

Verdict Scorecard

We rated Metricool across seven weighted dimensions. Each score comes from the live product, current documentation, the pricing page, and verified user reviews.

Category Weight Score What the evidence shows
Scheduling and publishing 25% 3.5/5 Strong calendar, autolists, and best-time-to-post. TikTok and YouTube Shorts auto-publish failures recur in user reports
Supported channels 20% 4.0/5 11 networks including Twitch and Google Business Profile. X/Twitter is a paid add-on on every plan, repriced to $120 per account per year in July 2026
Content creation 15% 2.5/5 No library for your own reusable assets. AI assistant is credit-metered at 5 credits per month on Free, with no bring-your-own-key option
Analytics and reporting 15% 5.0/5 Social, web, and paid ad data in one dashboard. One-click PDF and PPT reports, plus a Looker Studio connector on Advanced
Ease of use 10% 3.5/5 Clean for a single brand. Switching between brands is manual and slows multi-client work
Pricing and value 10% 3.0/5 Competitive sticker price. Add-ons and auto-renewal terms push the real cost above it
Support and reputation 5% 2.0/5 Slow, unhelpful responses documented on G2 and Capterra, clustered around billing disputes
Overall 3.5/5

Disclosure: PostMonk publishes this review and builds a competing social media scheduling tool. We scored Metricool on its free plan, its current pricing page, and verified user reviews. The rubric is the same one we apply to every product in this category. See how we review social media management tools for the full weighting and evidence rules.

What Is Metricool?

Metricool is an all-in-one social media management tool. You schedule posts, track analytics, benchmark competitors, run a unified inbox, and report on paid ads from one dashboard. It organizes everything around “brands,” where one brand equals one business or client with one profile per network.

Metricool launched in 2014 in Madrid and was acquired by the European hosting group team.blue in 2024. It reports 3.5 million users across 11 social networks and 3 ad platforms. That puts it in the mid-market of the social media management tools category.

Google’s AI Overview for “best social media scheduling tools” names Metricool “the best for data-driven marketers” (DataforSEO SERP capture, June 2026). That framing matches what we found: the measurement stack is the reason to buy it.

Who Is Metricool For?

Metricool fits best when you match one or more of these profiles.

  • You manage 1 to 50 brands and need cross-platform scheduling plus deep analytics in one dashboard.
  • You produce client reports and want one-click branded PDFs without manual data exports.
  • You run paid ads on Meta, Google, or TikTok and want organic and paid performance in one view.
  • You are an agency on the Advanced plan and need post approval and a Looker Studio connector below Hootsuite prices.
  • You are a solo creator on one brand who does not post to X/Twitter.

Who Is Metricool NOT For?

Metricool is a poor fit in these situations.

  • X/Twitter is central to your clients. Every plan charges a per-account add-on, now $120 per account per year.
  • You need a shared library to store and reuse image and video assets across posts.
  • You run an enterprise team that requires multi-level approval chains.
  • Predictable billing is non-negotiable. Add-ons and per-brand pricing push the real cost above the advertised floor.
  • You want a one-time purchase instead of a renewing subscription.

Metricool Features Overview

We evaluated Metricool’s feature set across its free plan, the official Help Center, and the primary feature pages. Here is what each core module delivers, and where each one stops.

Scheduling and Content Calendar

The Metricool Planner is a drag-and-drop calendar showing every scheduled post across connected networks in one view. Getting from signup to a first scheduled post takes five steps. Best-time-to-post recommendations draw on your own account’s engagement history.

Autolists handle evergreen and recurring content. You build a queue and Metricool cycles through it on a schedule, with a documented cap of 200 posts per list. Bulk planning runs through CSV import. There is no ceiling on how far ahead you can schedule, so months or years out is supported.

Publishing has real per-network limits worth knowing before you commit. Metricool documents rolling 24-hour caps of 50 posts on Instagram, 30 on Facebook, and 250 on Threads. YouTube runs on an internal quota of 10 daily posts on Free and 20 on premium (Help Center). Instagram carousels count as a single post.

Reliability is where it falls short. Auto-publish failures and native-audio defaults on TikTok video posts recur across G2, Trustpilot, and manager communities, and YouTube Shorts shows the same pattern. The failures are not universal. They appear consistently enough to be a real risk for accounts that publish short-form video on a schedule.

Analytics and Reporting

This is where Metricool earns its reputation, and the one dimension we scored 5.0. The dashboard covers four data layers that most tools at this price split across separate products.

  • Post-level engagement per network: reach, impressions, reactions, shares, and saves.
  • Audience demographics, including age breakdowns and follower growth over time.
  • Website traffic pulled from WordPress, Shopify, Squarespace, or a manual tracking script.
  • Paid ad performance for Meta Ads, Google Ads, and TikTok Ads, shown beside organic data.

The Looker Studio connector pipes 14 channels and more than 250 data sources into custom dashboards, with no report or connection limit on Metricool’s side. It requires an Advanced or Custom plan. For agencies producing Looker deliverables, that is a meaningful inclusion at this tier.

Free-plan analytics carry two limits the pricing page does not lead with. History stops at 30 days, charts are watermarked, and reports cannot be downloaded at all. Evaluating the reporting stack properly means paying for Starter.

One G2 agency user summed up the reporting payoff. “It simplified client reporting with clear, insightful data and one-click PDF downloads, saving us hours of manual work.” That matches what the module does.

Social Media Inbox

The unified inbox pulls DMs, comments, mentions, and reviews from connected networks into one screen. On Starter and above, team members can assign conversations, leave internal notes, and reply inside Metricool. Filters cover platform, message type, and status, and keyword search runs across messages.

The inbox has no automated routing rules and no SLA tracking. X/Twitter messages stay invisible unless you buy the add-on. For high-volume community management, this is functional rather than deep.

Content Creation and AI Tools

Metricool’s AI assistant generates captions, hashtag suggestions, tone rewrites, and per-platform adaptations from a chosen topic. The credit model is what limits it in practice.

  • Free plan: 5 AI credits per month.
  • Paid plans: larger allowances that scale with the tier.
  • Custom plan: a negotiated credit pool.
  • Bring-your-own-key: not offered on any plan, so you cannot route AI through your own provider account.

The bigger gap is storage. Metricool has no library for your own reusable images and videos. It connects to Google Drive, Canva, and Adobe Express instead. Your asset library therefore lives outside the tool, and every post pulls from an external source. Adobe Express does supply stock media, but that is not the same as reusing creative your team already made.

Hashtag suggestions live in the post composer. Live campaign hashtag monitoring on X and Instagram is a separate paid add-on called Hashtag Tracker.

Competitor Analysis

The Competitors module benchmarks up to 5 profiles on Free and up to 100 on paid plans. For each competitor you see follower growth, engagement rate, posting frequency, and top-performing content.

Coverage is narrower than the headline number suggests. Metricool’s competitors page lists five supported networks: Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, and Twitch. LinkedIn competitor benchmarking does not exist. If you benchmark LinkedIn performance for clients, Metricool cannot do it.

Reporting and White-Label Exports

Metricool ships four distinct reporting paths, which is unusual at this price. Each one targets a different delivery format.

  • Branded PDF or PPT export: build a template once with client colors and logo, then generate from any analytics view.
  • Scheduled delivery: set reports to land in client inboxes on a recurring cadence.
  • Metricool Studio: describe the analysis you want and the tool drafts the report with AI.
  • Looker Studio connector: 14 channels into custom Google dashboards on Advanced and Custom.

Client-branded report templates are available from Starter upward. Full white label is a Custom-plan feature, and it covers a custom domain, agency branding across the interface, and emails sent without external signatures.

SmartLinks is Metricool’s built-in link-in-bio page builder. It creates a customizable landing page with visit, click, and CTR tracking, and a single SmartLink is available on Free. Running multiple SmartLinks requires a paid plan. As a bundled replacement for a standalone link-in-bio tool, it holds up.

Ads Management

The Ads module connects Meta Ads, Google Ads, and TikTok Ads. You create campaigns, adjust budgets, track spend and ROI, and view results beside organic performance in the same analytics dashboard.

Managing all three ad platforms from a scheduler at this price is rare. Teams that publish organic content only will never open this module, and should not pay a premium for it.

API and MCP Access

Metricool exposes a REST API on Advanced and Custom plans for exporting metrics and automating scheduling, plus Zapier and Make connectors on the same tiers.

The MCP server is the more interesting piece, and it is easy to miss. Metricool publishes an official open-source MCP server that connects Claude, ChatGPT in developer mode, Cursor, n8n, and other MCP clients to your account. It works on every plan, including Free, subject to that plan’s limits.

The surface is read-heavy. More than 20 tools cover brands, analytics, best-time-to-post, and per-network post retrieval, but only scheduling and updating a post write anything back (Metricool MCP documentation). An agent can analyze your accounts thoroughly. It cannot manage media, run approvals, or apply templates for you.

Getting Started with Metricool

Onboarding from the free plan runs five steps, from signup to a first scheduled post.

  1. Create a free account with an email address, no credit card.
  2. Connect at least one social profile.
  3. Open the Planner.
  4. Create a post, write copy, and select the target networks.
  5. Choose a publish time and confirm.

The Help Center is unusually complete. We found step-by-step guides for scheduling, analytics, bulk import, LinkedIn PDF carousels, the approval workflow, and add-on activation, all without contacting support.

The brand model is where friction appears at scale. Each brand is a separate unit with its own calendar and analytics view. Moving between them means going back to a brand selector, and managers running ten or more brands describe this as a daily tax. One G2 reviewer put it plainly. “Managing multiple brands can be inconvenient since you have to switch between accounts individually.”

The learning curve splits by use case. On a single brand, most people are productive the same day. Across a client roster, expect to spend the first week designing a brand structure you can live with, because reorganizing later means rebuilding calendars.

Metricool Pricing

Metricool charges per brand, not per user seat or per channel. Annual billing saves up to 24 percent against monthly rates, and quoted prices exclude VAT.

The table below shows current pricing, verified at metricool.com/pricing on 3 August 2026.

Plan Annual (per month) Monthly Brands Notable inclusions
Free $0 $0 1 20 posts/month, 30 days of analytics, 5 competitors
Starter (5 brands) $20 $25 5 Unlimited posts, LinkedIn, 100 competitors, PDF and PPT reports
Starter (10 brands) $36 $45 10 Same features, more brands
Advanced (15 brands) $53 $67 15 Team and client management, roles, approvals, Looker Studio, API
Advanced (25 brands) $85 $107 25 Same features, more brands
Advanced (50 brands) $159 $210 50 Same features, more brands
Custom Contact Contact Custom White label, dedicated account manager, custom AI credits

Three add-ons sit outside those numbers and change the real cost.

  • X/Twitter. Required for X/Twitter scheduling, inbox, and analytics on every plan. Metricool repriced it in July 2026 to $120 per connected account per year, or $10 per month on monthly plans (Help Center). Accounts that held add-ons before that date keep the legacy $60 per year rate, but lose it permanently if they ever remove all their add-ons.
  • Hashtag Tracker. Live hashtag monitoring for X and Instagram, billed per day per platform. Left running, it is the most expensive line item Metricool sells.
  • Advanced Analytics. Extends analytics history and campaign dashboards. Metricool does not publish this price; it appears only in-app, so budget for it before you commit a client.

That X/Twitter change is the single most consequential 2026 pricing fact for agencies. An agency running X for ten clients moved from $600 to $1,200 per year on that add-on alone. The legacy rate survives only if the account never lets a single add-on lapse.

Billing caution: annual subscriptions auto-renew, and Metricool’s published refund policy excludes renewals from its 15-day refund window. Verified G2 reviewers document charges on accounts they had not used for months or years. Set a calendar reminder ahead of your renewal date and confirm the current cancellation terms before you pay.

Cancellation itself is straightforward. You keep access until the end of the current billing cycle, after which the account reverts to Free rather than closing. Upgrades and downgrades are prorated.

Is the Metricool Free Plan Worth It?

Yes, for one brand. The free plan gives you 20 posts per month, 30 days of analytics history, and 5 competitor profiles. You also get the AI assistant at 5 credits per month, the unified inbox, and a SmartLink. It does not expire and needs no card.

Four limits do not appear on the pricing page. Analytics charts carry a watermark, reports cannot be downloaded, a brand cannot be deleted once created, and competitors cannot be removed (Help Center). LinkedIn and X/Twitter are excluded entirely.

For a solo creator publishing to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, or Pinterest, that is genuinely useful and the 20-post cap is the only real ceiling. For anyone managing client brands, the free plan collapses immediately: one brand, no LinkedIn, no X, and a 30-day analytics window rule out professional use.

Metricool Pros

Five strengths hold up under scrutiny, and each one is specific enough to act on.

  • Best-in-class analytics for the price. Social, web, and paid ad data in one dashboard, plus one-click branded PDF and PPT reports and a Looker Studio connector, puts Metricool’s measurement stack above most tools in the $20 to $53 range.
  • Unusually broad platform coverage. Eleven networks including Twitch and Google Business Profile. Most schedulers at this tier skip both. If you post to Google Business Profile or track Twitch, Metricool is one of the few tools that handles them natively.
  • A free plan that actually works. No card, no expiry, and real scheduling across the major networks. For one brand that does not need LinkedIn or X, it covers the basics.
  • Competitor benchmarking included, not sold separately. Starter includes 100 competitor profiles. Most schedulers omit benchmarking or charge for it, and 100 profiles is well beyond what a freelancer or small agency needs.
  • An official MCP server on every plan. Metricool ships an open-source MCP server that works even on Free, so an AI client can query analytics and best posting times directly. Few schedulers in this price band offer agent access at all.

Metricool Cons

Five limitations are equally well documented. Three are cost or reliability risks rather than missing features.

  • No library for your own assets. There is nowhere inside Metricool to store, organize, and reuse your images and videos. Google Drive, Canva, and Adobe Express fill the gap, which means every post pulls from a tool you manage separately. For teams producing high volume across many brands, that is daily friction.
  • X/Twitter costs extra, and it got more expensive. The advertised price never includes X/Twitter scheduling, inbox, or analytics. Since July 2026 the add-on is $120 per connected account per year, double the legacy rate. Drop every add-on once and the old rate is gone for good.
  • Auto-renewal billing has cost real users real money. Verified G2 and Capterra reviews document surprise charges on accounts users believed were dormant, with the 15-day refund window not applying to renewals. One G2 reviewer wrote: “I was blindsided by a $324 auto-renewal charge for an account that had been completely inactive for years.” Another: “Auto-renew charged my card on October 14, 2025 even though I was not actively using the product.”
  • TikTok and YouTube Shorts auto-publish is unreliable. Reports across G2, Trustpilot, and manager communities describe scheduled video posts failing silently or publishing with native audio on TikTok, with Shorts behaving similarly. If short-form video carries your calendar, test this on Free before you commit to an annual plan.
  • Support is slow when it matters most. Capterra reviewers describe delayed and unhelpful responses during billing disputes, which is exactly when responsiveness counts. One verified Capterra review: “The responses were slow, unhelpful, and didn’t address my concern.” Another: “Despite cancelling my subscription well in advance, I was still charged.”

What Users Are Saying About Metricool

Metricool rates well on the B2B software platforms and noticeably worse on the general consumer platform. That split is the story.

Platform Rating Reviews Checked
G2 4.5/5 97 June 2026
Capterra 4.4/5 97 June 2026
Trustpilot approx. 4.2/5 600-plus Aggregate only

G2 and Capterra draw software evaluators who rate the product on features, and analytics carries those scores. Trustpilot draws a general consumer audience where billing and cancellation disputes surface, and its reviews skew sharply toward those complaints. Read both: the product scores are honest, and so is the billing signal underneath them.

What users praise:

  • “Navigating Metricool is like a walk in the park.” (G2, verified reviewer)
  • “It simplified client reporting with clear, insightful data and one-click PDF downloads, saving us hours of manual work.” (G2, agency user)
  • “I use it every 15 days for my reports.” (G2, verified reviewer)

What users criticize:

  • “I was blindsided by a $324 auto-renewal charge for an account that had been completely inactive for years.” (G2, Keith A.)
  • “Auto-renew charged my card on October 14, 2025 even though I was not actively using the product.” (G2, Sait T.)
  • “The responses were slow, unhelpful, and didn’t address my concern.” (Capterra, Tim C.)
  • “There’s occasional desync of data; the fact that LinkedIn costs extra.” (G2, verified reviewer)
  • “Twitter has become a paid add-on in any plan.” (G2, verified reviewer)
  • “The commenting feature when reviewing is cumbersome.” (G2, Stacy B.)

Is Metricool Worth It?

Metricool earns its 3.5 out of 5. The analytics module is genuinely excellent at this price. The reporting stack, competitor benchmarking, and Looker connector put it ahead of most tools in the $20 to $53 tier. If measuring performance and shipping client reports are your primary outputs, it delivers.

The billing model is the real risk, and it is a business-practice problem rather than a product one. Annual plans auto-renew, renewals fall outside the refund window, and the X/Twitter add-on doubled in July 2026. Model the full cost before you sign, then set a renewal reminder.

Choose Metricool if:

  • Analytics and client reporting are your primary workflow outputs.
  • You manage 5 to 50 brands and want approval workflows and Looker integration below Hootsuite pricing.
  • You run paid ads on Meta, Google, or TikTok alongside organic content and want both in one view.
  • You need to benchmark competitors on Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, or Twitch and report to leadership regularly.

Look elsewhere if:

  • X/Twitter is central to your stack and budget is tight. At $120 per account per year, the add-on compounds fast.
  • You need a shared media library for your team’s assets.
  • You want a one-time purchase with no renewal to track.
  • Reliable TikTok video publishing is a hard requirement for your clients.
  • LinkedIn competitor benchmarking is part of what you sell.

Before you decide, it is worth comparing the field. Our guide to Metricool alternatives covers the tools that solve each of those gaps.

Looking for an Alternative?

Metricool’s analytics are genuinely strong. If you live in dashboards and ship client reports weekly, it is hard to beat at $20 to $53 per month. That advantage is real and worth naming before anything else.

Where Metricool consistently frustrates people is the cost structure: renewing subscriptions, capped AI credits, and an X/Twitter surcharge that just doubled. If those are your actual friction points, PostMonk takes a different approach.

PostMonk charges once. A single payment of $29 (Starter), $59 (Pro), or $99 (Agency) buys lifetime access to that workspace. There is no auto-renewal to track and no add-on surcharge for X/Twitter or LinkedIn. Every paid plan also supports bring-your-own-key AI, so you connect an OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, OpenRouter, or DeepSeek key and pay that provider directly.

On agent access, both tools ship an MCP server. Metricool’s works on every plan but is read-heavy, with only two write tools. PostMonk’s MCP server, on Pro and Agency, adds a full write surface. An agent can create, update, approve, and reject posts, manage media, and apply templates.

Metricool is the better product on analytics depth and overall feature maturity, and PostMonk does not try to match that reporting stack. What PostMonk offers instead is a fixed lifetime cost, uncapped AI on your own key, and a wider agentic surface.

FAQs

Is the Metricool free plan worth it?

Yes, for a single brand. It covers 20 posts per month, 30 days of analytics, 5 competitor profiles, the unified inbox, and 5 AI credits. No card is required and it never expires. LinkedIn and X/Twitter are excluded, reports cannot be downloaded, and analytics carry a watermark.

How much does Metricool cost per month?

Metricool costs $0 on Free, $20 per month for Starter with 5 brands, and $53 per month for Advanced with 15 brands. Those are annual-billing rates, and monthly billing runs roughly 25 percent higher. The X/Twitter add-on adds $120 per connected account per year on top.

Is the Metricool app safe?

Yes. Metricool connects through each network’s official API, so it never asks for your social passwords. It is an official partner of Google, Pinterest, Meta, and X, and it belongs to team.blue. It publishes terms, a privacy policy, and a whistleblower channel. The documented complaints concern billing, not security.

Does Metricool post for you?

Yes. Metricool auto-publishes scheduled posts to supported networks without manual confirmation, and Autolists publish from a rotating evergreen queue on their own. Instagram supports both auto-publish and notification publishing, so you can choose. TikTok and YouTube Shorts auto-publish is where users report the most failures.

What is better than Metricool?

It depends on the gap you are closing, and each gap has a clear answer. Later is stronger for visual planning and media management. Sprout Social and Hootsuite offer deeper collaboration at several times the price. Buffer is simpler for solo creators. Nothing at Metricool’s price matches its analytics.

Is Metricool good for small businesses?

Yes, with one caveat. The free plan covers one brand across most major networks and works for a single business, and paid plans from $20 per month scale affordably. Small businesses running paid ads benefit most, since Meta, Google, and TikTok ad reporting is included. Budget separately if X/Twitter matters.

Which is better, Buffer or Metricool?

Metricool wins on analytics depth, competitor benchmarking, paid ad reporting, and the unified inbox at comparable pricing. Buffer wins on simplicity and interface polish, which suits solo creators who want a clean scheduling workflow and nothing more. If client reporting is a regular output, Metricool is the stronger choice.

Is Hootsuite better than Metricool?

For most small businesses and agencies, no. Metricool starts at $20 per month with deep analytics, competitor benchmarking, and a Looker connector included. Hootsuite starts far higher and targets enterprise teams needing social listening and complex approval chains. Our Metricool vs Hootsuite comparison breaks down where each one wins.

Is Metricool suitable for agencies?

Yes, on Advanced. That plan adds team and client management, role-based access, a post approval system, the Looker Studio connector, and up to 50 brands. At $53 to $159 per month for 15 to 50 brands, the per-client cost is competitive. The constraints are manual brand switching and the per-account X/Twitter add-on.

Is Metricool trustworthy?

The product is legitimate, used by 3.5 million people, and an official partner of Google, Meta, Pinterest, and X. The concern is billing: annual plans auto-renew, the 15-day refund window excludes renewals, and verified reviewers document charges on dormant accounts. Read the cancellation policy before paying and set a renewal reminder.
